Chinese New Year: Wishing you Prosperity in 2020
theChinesezodiac.org
Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival or Lunar New Year, marks the beginning of the new lunar year. This year, millions of people will come together under the new moon to ring in the Year of the Rat on January 25th. During the 15-day festival, people celebrate with their families by eating together, lighting fireworks, observing and participating in parades, and exchanging money in traditional red envelopes called “Hongbao.” These festivities promote prosperity and good fortune for the new year.
As the color red denotes luck and happiness in Chinese culture, many of the decorations and dress associated with Chinese New Year are red so we invite you to put on your red blouse, sweater or skirt and join in on the festivities.
